My 5 Most Wanted Smash Characters - 2023
The updated 2023 edition of one of my favorite pasttimes...
Earlier this week, I released a video about 5 characters I think Nintendo would put in a Fighter’s Pass 3 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
I figured the more “realistic” picks would make for a more valuable video.
But while on this topic, I wanted to also share the 5 characters I would pick for my personal Smash wishlist as of today.
My desired characters have changed a bit from a few years ago.
And this is the perfect place to share them!
Let’s start with Character 1:
Issac
My most selfish pick. And the character that I voted for in the first and only Smash Ballot.
While nowhere near as relevant as he once was, Assist Trophy Issac has been my #1 dream Super Smash Bros. fighter since childhood.
Since very young, I loved Golden Sun and Dragon Quest. Dragon Quest made it. Why not Issac?
Noah and Mio
The first new addition to my “most wanted.” Despite its short stay, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has become one of my all-time favorite games. So, it’s pretty obvious that I’d want the protagonists of said game in Super Smash Bros. as a tandem character.
Like many of these picks, I want the game’s music in Smash almost as much as the character itself. And I’m fully confident the Smash team would come up with a great way to implement interlinking.
Chrono
Reverb from SNES era RPGs is still felt in games today.
Earthbound is in Smash. Final Fantasy is in Smash. Dragon Quest is in Smash.
There is no reason for Chrono to be missing in Smash. Although he’s not much of a personality— he’s from one of the most important video games ever made.
Plus, I just have this vision of him teaming up with Frog for an “X-Strike” Final Smash.
Tears of the Kingdom character reworks
My other new addition to the “most-wanted.” These aren’t even entirely new characters. They would just be redesigns and updates to Zelda and Ganondorf. Link can stay as-is to honor the Breath of the Wild game.
We’ll probably have to wait until Smash 6 for any Tears of the Kingdom representation. But if you consider this cheating for the list, fine then— I’d otherwise go with the Monster Hunter Rise avatar.
Chorus Kids
During the hype cycle for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, I was a self-proclaimed “Chorus Kids main” before the game even came out.
Naturally, I was disappointed to see that this heavily rumored character never made the final game.
It would be vindicating to finally play as Chorus Kids after all these years.
I love tandem characters. And the game needs more of them.
Here’s my video featuring some more “grounded” picks.
And I’ll see you next week!
