My Top 5 Newcomers For Mario Kart on Switch 2!
Writing about the 5 characters I'd like to see most in the newly-revealed Mario Kart for Switch 2!

Ever since Mario Kart for Switch 2 was revealed, I’ve been daydreaming about what new characters might be joining the roster. Today, I wanted to single out my top 5 potential additons to the roster, along with a little bit of my rationale for each pick.
5. Elephant Mario
Essentially the mascot of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Elephant Mario would be a super fun wacky addition to the Mario Kart roster. Yes, it would be yet another Mario variation, but his Elephant form would turn Mario into a “heavy” character, which I think is pretty novel. Plus, it’s a great representative from the 2D side of the series.
4. R.O.B.
I’m going back to Mario Kart DS for this one. R.O.B. was the biggest roster surprise in that game, and I’d love to see him return along with his signature kart. But… maybe I’m a little biased since I’m a dedicated R.O.B. main in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
3. Broodals
Hailing from Super Mario Odyssey, I’d love to see the five Broodals join the Mario Kart roster. Topper, Spewart, Hariet, Rango, and Madame Broode would be fun new additions and provide some great Odyssey representation (something Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sorely lacks). The Broodals’ inclusion would be similar to the Koopalings in Mario Kart 8.
2. Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic in Mario Kart… It sounds like a pipe dream, but hear me out.
First of all, Sonic is the star of his own kart racing series. Also, the Mario & Sonic crossover has happened before with the “Olympic Games” series. News of Sonic joining Mario Kart’s roster would certainly make headlines in the gaming world. I’m not saying it’s likely, but it’s definitely possible— and I’d love to see it.
1. Professor E. Gadd
I can’t explain exactly why, but I just want E. Gadd in Mario Kart so much. Ever since Mario Kart DS, I thought this could be a possibility. With Mario Kart for Switch 2 likely having a new crop of playable characters, the time might finally be right for E. Gadd’s inclusion. We need a Luigi’s Mansion rep other than Luigi himself!
